Practical Nursing

For admission into the Practical Nursing program, students must successfully complete the two semesters of Humber’s Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program with a minimum overall GPA of 70%, including minimum 70% final grade in each the following subjects: 

  • GBIO 100: Biology
  • GBIO 150: Biology 2
  • GCHM 100: Chemistry
  • GCHM 150: Chemistry 2
  • GMTH 150: Math for Sciences 1
  • GMTH 250: Math for Sciences 2
  • GCOM 110: Writing for the Sciences 1
  • GCOM 220: Writing for the Sciences 2

Transfer Credits: students who successful complete the following courses with a minimum 70% will be eligible for the following transfer credits in the Practical Nursing program:  

  • GCOMM 110&220 - Writing for the Sciences 1&2 – WRIT 121
  • PSYC 150 - Psychology: Introduction - PSYC 150 

**Students must have graduated within the past five years for admission into the higher credential. Students who have graduated more than five years may not be eligible for admission. Please speak to the admission officer for more details.

Nursing, Bachelor of Science

For admission into Bachelor of Science, Nursing program, students must successfully complete an Ontario Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program with a minimum overall GPA of 75%, including minimum 75% final grade in each the following subjects: 

  • GBIO 100: Biology
  • GBIO 150: Biology 2
  • GCHM 100: Chemistry
  • GCHM 150: Chemistry 2
  • GMTH 150: Math for Sciences 1
  • GMTH 250: Math for Sciences 2
  • GCOM 110: Writing for the Sciences 1

TRANSFER CREDITS: To qualify for transfer credits, students must obtain a final mark of 75% in the following Humber courses or equivalent:


GLIT100 - Foundations of Literature - Lower Level Breadth Elective
GCRT 100 - Critical Thinking - Lower Level Breadth Elective
GCOM 110 and GCOM 220 – COMM 1001 Academic Wrtiting and Critical Thinking
PSYC 150 – Psychology: PSYC 1000 Introduction to Psychology

Please note: Humber graduates will be assessed for Transfer Credits automatically. External applicants,  please apply through the transfer credit application at Myhumber.ca if you think you have courses from your sending institution that are equivalent in learning outcomes to the Humber courses above. Workplace Health and Wellness, Bachelor of Health Sciences

Graduates with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent or more may be considered for admission.  Graduates may then complete the degree with the equivalent of six semesters of full-time study plus a work term.  Successful applicants must also possess:

  • ENG4U or Humber’s WRIT 100 or 200 level course, or equivalent, with a minimum grade of 65 per cent
  • SBI4U or equivalent

Admission will be based on availability in the program.

*The advanced standing outlined is a general guideline. Diploma graduates may be required to take courses in lower semesters in order to meet the overall degree learning outcomes.

Pathways To Another Institution

Bachelors degree York University

Additional Notes

Students applying to York University from the General Arts and Science Diploma Program of Humber College must have graduated with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (B). Some degree programs may require a higher minimum overall GPA and have degree specific prerequisites. Students should verify admission requirements prior to applying for admission.

Applications must be received no later than March 1st in order to qualify for admittance in the following September.

Students must submit a transcript confirming graduation from the General Arts and Science Diploma Program of Humber College. If only a partial transcript is sent, the admission offer will be conditional to the presentation of full final official transcript confirming graduation from the General Arts and Science Diploma Program of Humber College.

Master of Science (MSc) in Education - TESOL Niagara University in Ontario

Additional Notes

Students who have graduated from Humber with a Teaching English as a Second Language (“TESL”) Graduate Certificate, with an overall average of B (or GPA 75%) will be eligible to apply for admission into this program.  It is noted that admission to Humber’s TESL program requires the completion of a baccalaureate degree as well as approved College scores on language proficiency tests (TOEFL or IELTS).   Degree students enrolled in the TESL program at Humber may apply for the Program at Niagara University during their second semester of study. At the start of Semester 2 at Humber, provided qualifications for admission are met, students would be allowed dual admission into the Program.
