Our students have ranked us top 10 for student experience twice (The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026 and The Daily Mail University Guide 2026) and we’re proud to have been awarded an overall Gold award in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023. Located in the heart of the UK, we have a proud legacy of academic excellence and innovation dating back to our founding in 1921. Situated in the vibrant and culturally diverse city of Leicester in the East Midlands, we welcome a global student community of over 20,000 students from more than 150 countries. Leicester is consistently ranked among the most affordable student cities in the UK, with SI-UK (2024) listing Leicester in the top 10 cheapest places for students to live. We offer a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, with a particularly strong reputation in disciplines such as Law, Health, and Space. We have played a pivotal role in globally significant projects related to DNA research, the archaeological discovery of King Richard III’s remains, Roman settlements, the Mars Rover, and the James Webb Space Telescope. A Premier Destination for Canadian Law Students With over 20 years of graduates practising law in Canada, Leicester Law School has an excellent reputation as a leading institution for legal education. Our tailor-made law programmes provide specialised support from day one. Choose from our three-year Law LLB or our two-year graduate JD Pathway, both with no LSAT requirement. We have the largest number of Canadian students of any UK law school, including a thriving community of over 500 Canadian students and an extensive network of Canadian graduates. Our staff comprise global experts, including academics from Canada, and you will be able to take two Canadian law courses, Foundations of Canadian Law and Canadian Constitutional Law, which help prepare you for two NCA exams. Many of our Canadian students return to Canada to practise law after studying with us. The Leicester Canadian Law Society will help you adjust to living and studying with us, offering a wide variety of opportunities to get involved, including legal competitions. You will have access to facilities at the heart of campus, including a law library, moot court, and Legal Advice Clinic. We offer a wide range of scholarships and provide bespoke support to our Canadian students from day one. You are guaranteed a place in university accommodation in your first year if you apply before 1 September in the year you wish to begin your studies. There are various options to suit different budgets across two main sites: The Village and The City. Most of our Canadian students choose The City accommodation, which is a five-minute walk from campus and the Law School.
