Barrett CTI Hosted Its First Mechatronics Skills Qualifying Competition!

Seven teams competed for their chance to represent Humber at Skills Ontario.

This was the first time our Mechatronics Skills Qualifying Competition was held at the Barrett CTI, making it a very memorable occasion.

Hosted in the main atrium for everyone to see, seven teams of students from Humber’s Electromechanical program competed for the chance to represent Humber College at Skills Ontario. They raced against the clock to build automated factories and production systems. Judges included past Humber alumnus and Skills Coach Mauricio Toigo (who won first place at World Skills in Germany in 2013). Many thanks to our partner SEW Eurodrive for sponsoring the event.

An awards ceremony was held the next day Friday, February 21st which was attended by Humber President and CEO Chris Whitaker, Farzad Rayegani- Senior Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology and Lyall Watson and Shane Carnegie from SEW Eurodrive.
