Program Description

The Adult Education Teaching Excellence Certificate consists of 5 courses that highlight critical elements of adult education and training. The courses within this certificate program give participants the opportunity to explore effective practices in teaching and learning and apply the skills learned in a safe environment. Whether your focus is higher education or workforce training and development this certificate will help you engage learners and make your lessons more inclusive and impactful. Upon successful completion of all courses, participants receive a certificate of completion.

Learning outcomes:

  • Upon completion of this certificate, learners will be able to:
  • Analyze techniques to support adult learning and create a learner-centered classroom environment.
  • Acknowledge the importance of preparation, organization and time management skills for effective teaching and learning.
  • Create meaningful learning outcomes, aligned with learning activities and assessments.
  • Evaluate teaching practices using a variety of pedagogical and andragogical theories.
  • Identify areas for professional development opportunities through reflective practice.
  • Respond constructively to common issues and challenging behaviours in adult learning environments.
  • Apply multiple teaching methods to work with diverse groups of learners aligned with current ideas related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom.

SEDA Accreditation

The Adult Education Teaching Excellence Certificate program is accredited for SEDA - PDF Learning, Teaching and Assessing Award. The learning outcomes of this program maps to the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) underpinning  Values and Core Development Outcomes, and the SEDA PDF-Learning, Teaching, and Assessing Award Specialist Outcomes.

Upon successful completion of this certificate, you will be entitled to refer to yourself as a SEDA Recognised Teacher.

How to Register

You are required to register for each individual course included in a CE program. You can register for a course by selecting it and following the instructions in the “How to Register” box.

Fees

Each CE program is comprised of a series of courses which may all have different fees. You are required to register for each course individually and pay the associated fees. Once you select the course, the fee is displayed in the “How to Register” box.
