Andrew Ainsworth, Director, Professional and Continuing Education, School of Media Studies & Information Technology


 

Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Ainsworth as Director, Professional and Continuing Education for the School of Media Studies and Information Technology, effective November 25, 2013.

Andrew has over 20 years of experience in television and film production, including teaching and administering film and media programs in both the public and private sectors. Andrew first joined Humber in August 2009 as the Program Coordinator and Professor for the Post Production for Film and Television Graduate Certificate program. In his role, he has also taught in the Film and Media Production degree as well as developed curriculum and established industry partnerships.

Most recently, Andrew was on a faculty secondment to the Centre for Teaching and Learning where he was developing the Centre’s multi-media capacity and web channel. He trained faculty on the flipped classroom and media practice as well as writing a framework for MOOCs. In 2012 and 2013, Andrew delivered his presentation “Making Class the Best Movie Your Students Have Ever Seen” to conferences in Toronto, Philadelphia and Dallas.

In his new role, Andrew will provide academic, management, and administrative leadership in the development and implementation of both funded and fee-for-service Professional and Continuing Education activities. He will be responsible for implementing and shaping the vision for the School in Professional and Continuing Education and creating dynamic and innovative learning environments. Andrew is currently enrolled in the Leadership Cohort of the M. Ed. Program at OISE. He holds an MA in Film and Video Production (University of Texas at Austin), a Post Graduate Diploma in Communications Studies (Concordia University) and BSc. in Renewable Resource Development (McGill University).
