Collecting Gift-Filled Shoeboxes for Kashechewan First Nation Reserve

Calling all Departments, Schools, and YOU! The Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre is collecting gift-filled shoeboxes in support of I Love First Peoples, a registered Canadian charity working to empower Indigenous children and youth through education. The packed boxes will be delivered to the children and youth living in Kashechewan First Nation Reserve in February when the ice roads open.

Only five EASY steps to participate:

  1. Fill a shoebox with educational toys and warm winter supplies: books, math games, arts and craft supplies, toys, card games, hats, mittens, socks, paint and brushes, modelling clay, fancy markers, beading kits, bells, etc.
  2. Mark the box with the following info: Gender (Girl, Boy, Neutral) and Age (3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-16)
  3. Write a note to the child with a positive message of friendship.
  4. Include $5 in the box to cover the cost of transporting the gifts along the ice road to the Kashechewan First Nation Reserve
  5. Drop your filled box off to the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre by November 30th (we're at Lakeshore campus in the Student Welcome and Resource Centre: WEL-104)....in a pinch December 1st works too as we'll be delivering the boxes to the local chapter of I Love First Peoples the morning of December 2nd....
