Community Service Award

July 4, 2013

Alister Mathieson, Dean of the School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism, was presented the Annual Community Service Award by the Board of Directors of Microskills.

The presentation was made at the Microskills AGM last week. In his remarks, Alister noted that this award, although presented to him individually, is an award to be shared by a number of team members who have designed and implemented the cook pre-apprenticeship program to the Etobicoke community. In particular, he felt the award should be shared by Robert Whyte, Karen Hamilton-McKinnon, Geraldine Babcock and Sabra Dasai from Humber, and Hazel Webb, Michelle Tinker and Yvonne Reid from Microskills. Humber and Microskills have received approval from the MTCU for funding to deliver contracts for seven cohorts totalling approximately 130 students.
