Enhanced Health and Safety Measures to Include Temperature Checks at Campus Entryways

As Ontario continues to grapple with the third wave of COVID-19, Humber has enhanced health and safety on campus. They include:

  • Temperature checks at campus entryways (effective May 19 for the summer term) - Temperature checks will be performed by Public Safety staff upon entering campus. Public Safety staff will continue to check for completed self-screenings on the Humber Guardian app, or will provide an alternative format, as required. No personal information will be gathered as part of this new screening process. Anyone who is identified as having an elevated temperature (37.8°C or more) will be provided with information on next steps and directed to leave campus. Students who live in residence will not be screened upon entry to the Residence. However, they will be screened upon entry to other campus buildings. Contractors and employees will be screened upon entry to Residence.

  • Enhanced Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - In the last few weeks, enhancements were made to the PPE used in programs within the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness. Going forward, similar changes will also be put in place for any classes or labs requiring partner work. In addition, PPE enhancements will be implemented for staff whose work requires them to be less than 6 feet/2 metres apart.

Also, as a new term gets underway, please review the information on when and how to report COVID-19.

If you are feeling unwell in any way, please do not come to campus. Health and safety are a shared responsibility, and we appreciate your ongoing support and cooperation.

As always, the latest information can be found on humber.ca/updates and HROE’s COVID-19 Resources website
