Farewell and Congratulations to Cynthia Lessard

I am writing to you today to announce that Cynthia Lessard, Executive Assistant to the Office of the Senior Vice-President, Academic is leaving Humber to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher with the Thames Valley District School Board.

Cynthia began her career at Humber in the Faculty of Social and Community Services, in 2013, where she immediately made an impact as the Continuing Education Support Officer. By 2015, Cynthia was the Administrative Assistant to the Dean, leading a number of important initiatives within the faculty. Cynthia took an interest in the programming offered in the Faculty of Social and Community Services and took on additional projects, such as the coordination of the Music and Memory iPod project with Lakeshore Lodge Long Term Care Home to bring music to residents living with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia.

Cynthia joined the Office of the Senior Vice-President, Academic in 2016, bringing her exceptional planning, analysis and project management skills. She planned and coordinated numerous events and she streamlined and digitized the honorary degree, program advisory committee and sabbatical processes. She was the secretariat for numerous internal committees and was also the secretariat for the Coordinating Committee of Vice-Presidents, Academic – supporting the 24 Ontario Colleges to respond to complex issues facing the Ontario college system.

Cynthia worked strategically and compassionately and will always be a valued colleague and friend. She will be missed at Humber, but I am certain that she will go on to make a difference in the lives of the many students who will be enriched by her generous spirit and her love of learning. Please join me in wishing Cynthia well as she embarks on her new career.

The Executive Assistant to the Office of the Senior Vice-President, Academic position will be posted this week.
