FLA Launches New Centre for Education, Language and Professional Practice (CELPP)

The Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences and Innovative Learning (FLA) is pleased to announce the new Centre for Education, Language and Professional Practice (CELPP).

The new Centre was created through the merger of FLA’s Continuing Education (CE) and English Language Centre (ELC). CELPP will continue to provide the programs, courses and services, including the IELTS Test Centre, long associated with CE and the ELC. The Centre will function under the leadership of Stephen Allen as Associate Dean, CELPP and Paul Ward as Program Director.

The CELPP’s mission is to build on faculty and staff expertise in education, teacher preparation, languages, and professional learning to offer innovative and flexible programming that meets the needs of domestic and international professionals, including Humber’s international partners.

A special focus of CELPP will be to work with FLA’s Centre for Innovative Learning to provide new knowledge development opportunities in the areas of education, digital learning and instructional practices that address the needs of both the domestic and international markets. In order to achieve this, CELPP will work with International and the International Development Institute as well as the Centres of Innovation and Humber’s Continuing Professional Learning.

CELPP was launched on April 1, 2021, and we look forward to developing the strategic direction of the Centre in collaboration with our stakeholders.
