Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee Announcement

October 5, 2012

Now in our second year, the Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee’s mission is to foster and advance an inclusive campus community for diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, or two-spirited and with allied (LGBTTIQQ2SA) employees and students by working toward the elimination of heterosexism, transphobia, homophobia, heteronormativity, gender expression and gender identity oppression.

We believe that through education and awareness Humber will be able to fulfill its potential as a welcoming, safe, inclusive and diverse institution, reflective of contemporary society.

We hope to accomplish our goals through the following strategies:

  • Outreach to the Humber community
  • Educating the campus community about issues of sexual orientation and gender identity
  • Fostering a respectful environment for LGBTTIQQ2SA communities
  • Advocating for responses to the needs and concerns of LGBTTIQQ2SA communities at Humber through collaboration
  • Supporting faculty in the creation of inclusive curriculum

If you would like to join the committee, request further information, or contribute an idea please email us at genderandsexualdiversity@humber.ca
