Happy New Year and Faculty Structure Update

As we begin the Winter Semester, I want to thank everyone in Humber’s academic division for all of your hard work and commitment to our students. We can all take great pride in the work we do.

I’d like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on our transition to our new Faculty structure. As announced, we are creating six new faculties to align with the program areas of expansion outlined in our Strategic Mandate Agreement with the provincial government and to ensure breadth and flexible learning are embedded in our students’ experience at Humber. This change will lead to increased synergies across our programs, and greater opportunity for students, faculty and staff to collaborate with our industry and community partners through our Centres of Innovation and the Centre for Entrepreneurship.

The Academic HR planning committee, of which all Senior Deans are a part, has continued to meet regularly and has finalized a number of transitional details since the initial September 27 announcement. Should you have specific questions as we move toward the new Faculty structure, please feel free to speak with your Associate Dean or your HR Business Partner.

With the new Faculty structure officially coming into effect on May 1, 2019 and in preparation for the start of the 2019-2020 academic year, we’ll be continuing our transitional planning over the next few months. We look forward to receiving your input along the way. If you have ideas or suggestions that you wish to present, please email them to the Senior Dean or Associate Dean responsible for the area. I will do my best to provide you with regular updates and to help answer any questions you may have.

For your reference, here is a list of our full-time programs and their location within the new Faculties.

Thank you for joining us on this journey and for your contributions to supporting our students’ success. I wish you all the best in the coming semester.
