Humber Launches COVID-19 Support Our Students (SOS) Fund

As the global fight against COVID-19 continues, Humber College has rallied to address the economic needs of its most vulnerable students. Responding to a surge in demand for emergency financial support, Humber has set up the COVID-19 Support Our Students (SOS) Fund.

In support of the campaign, IGNITE is donating $250,000 towards the fund. This is the Student Union’s second significant donation to help students during the coronavirus crisis. In addition, many members of the Humber community including faculty, staff, alumni, donors and partners have already contributed. Humber is also matching gifts for a limited time.

The SOS Fund is open to returning domestic and international students currently living in Canada and registered in full-time postsecondary programs in the Summer 2020 term.

Since mid-March Humber has received more than 5,000 applications for support. So far, the college has been able to help 2,300 students, distributing more than $1.2 million in emergency funds through the college, IGNITE and the provincial government. Donations to the SOS Fund can be made on the website.
