Humber's School of Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Hosts a Robbie Burns Dinner and Ceilidh

February 8, 2015

On January 29th, Humber’s School of Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism and guests raised a toast to Scotland’s favorite son at their Robbie Burns Ceilidh in The Humber Room.

The evening commenced with a Whisky Nosing conducted by Richard Pittaway followed by many traditional Scottish traditions and music. Master of Ceremonies Paul McCabe, in full Scottish regalia, entertained guests along with toasters Alister Mathieson, Georgia Sanderson and Susan Somerville.

The Streetsville Pipes and Drums band piped in the haggis and played several tunes, including Amazing Grace, The Bloody fields of Flanders and Auld Lang Syne.

Humber’s Culinary and Hospitality students prepared and served a traditional Scottish menu featuring haggis, roast beef and cranachan. Event Planning students organized the registration and raffles for the sold out event and raised over $1000 for the HUMBER GIVES Scholarship fund.
