Irene Kosmas, Acting Director, English Language Centre

Dear Colleagues, On behalf of Stephen Allen and the entire English Language Centre team, I’m pleased to announce that Irene Kosmas is the successful candidate in our recent posting for the position of Acting Director of the Humber, English Language Centre (ELC), effective April 3rd, 2017. Irene has extensive experience in the ESOL, EAP and TESL worlds and will be an excellent addition to the ELC as the program develops both at Humber and offshore.  As many of you know, Irene has been teaching at Humber College since 2002 in programs and courses that span the breadth of the English Department and the English Language Centre. Regardless of the course, her focus has always been on supporting English Language Leaners (ELLs) in the post-secondary environment. In addition to her teaching experience, she has also held the positon of Program Coordinator of the Developmental (ESOL) and Remedial (WRIT 050) courses for the English Department and has worked as a TESOL trainer at Seneca College and York University.    Irene holds a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics from York University and a Humber College ITAL graduate certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). She is also an Ontario Certified English Language Teacher (OCELT) and has served on TESL Ontario’s Board of Directors between 2012-2015.  Please join me in congratulating Irene in this new role.
