Land as First Teacher – Pilot Launch
Indigenous Teaching & Learning Bundle | Winter 2026
Indigenous Education & Engagement is pleased to launch Land as First Teacher, the second course in the Indigenous Teaching & Learning Bundle. This seven-week asynchronous pilot course is grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems and pedagogical principles rooted in land and place, and invites faculty and staff to consider land as a guiding orientation for teaching, learning, and responsibility.
Participants will examine colonial ideas about land and knowledge in education and engage Indigenous counterstories of resistance, refusal, and continuity. Through readings, reflection, and discussion, the course supports exploration of how land as first teacher can inform curriculum design, classroom practice, and approaches to assessment across teaching and learning contexts.
February 9 to March 30 | Asynchronous
Registration is limited for this pilot.
