Lucas Anderson joining Humber as Director, Public Affairs

Please join me in welcoming Lucas Anderson to Humber!

On October 2, Lucas will start as Director, Public Affairs with the Government Relations, Marketing and Communications Department, and will be part of the External Affairs and Professional Learning leadership team.

Lucas comes to Humber from York University where he is currently Assistant Director, Government Relations and has been with the University since 2018. Working in the Office of the President, Lucas prepared strategic plans and budget submissions to advance institutional goals by influencing government policy at the federal and provincial levels. He was responsible for the creation and implementation of the university’s government relations strategy as well as York’s first-ever Economic and Social Impact Report. Lucas’ work helped support infrastructure projects, including the establishment of the Markham Campus, work-integrated learning opportunities and the creation of new academic programs.

Prior to York, Lucas held several advisory roles in the Government of Ontario, including Policy Advisor to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, and Senior Advisor to the President of Treasury Board.

Lucas also has significant experience working entrepreneurially to deliver outcomes, including holding leadership roles in both federal and provincial political campaigns and implementing the first online voting system at Queen’s University.

Lucas has a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Toronto and is an alumnus of Queen’s University, where he studied political theory and economics during his undergraduate degree.

I am delighted that Lucas is bringing his talents and experience to this important role at Humber.
