Multi-Factor Authentication Coverage is Expanding for Students

As a part of Humber ITS’ ongoing multi-factor authentication project, MFA coverage for students will be expanding in the fall to include a wider range of applications.

As of Monday, November 6, all applications that require username@humber.ca login credentials will benefit from the added layer of security by requiring MFA at sign-in. MFA will only be prompted for students when they log in with their Humber login credentials off-campus, roughly every seven days.

In addition to the expanded MFA coverage for students, as of Thursday, November 30, 2023, you will no longer be able to skip the prompt to install the Microsoft Authenticator app. Microsoft is enhancing the MFA experience for all users. If you typically use SMS or voice methods for authentication, you will soon be required to use the Authenticator app as your primary method when logging into your M365 account. This change is designed to provide a more secure form of MFA compared to SMS and voice methods.

For new users, download the Authenticator app from the Google Play Store or from the Apple App Store today.
