New Portal to Support Employment & Placement Activity

Career Services, in partnership with a group of key stakeholders from the Academic Schools, Humber Community Employment Services, and Information Technology Services is excited to announce it is moving ahead with the implementation of a new platform to support employment and placement activity at Humber and create a more seamless user experience for both students and employers.

I am pleased to announce that Kara-Lee Dell from Peer Assisted Learning Support (PALS) has agreed to be seconded into the Project Manager role to lead this important initiative. Kara will oversee the project over the course of the next year, from configuration through to implementation, working with all of the key stakeholders to achieve the outcomes set out for this undertaking. You may know Kara from her role as Peer Tutoring Coordinator for PALS where she has worked since July 2010.  In that capacity, Kara has been the key lead on the implementation and operation of different web-based solutions up in PALS including WC Online. She has worked with a variety of stakeholders in both the Academic Schools and the services to advance new initiatives in tutoring such as group tutoring and in-class/lab tutoring and was instrumental in launching the pilot of the PASS program.

Kara completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Guelph-Humber, a certificate in Student Affairs from Seneca College, and is currently working on a Master of Education at the University of Toronto. She started out her career at Humber in the Residences and has over the years been involved in a variety of other projects and programs including Humber’s Alternative Spring Break activities, the Showcase Committee, and a collaborative training initiative undertaken jointly with SSE. Her knowledge of Humber, her experience with the launch of new programs and solutions, as well as her well-honed skills with systems, program development and collaborative projects situate her well to execute on the strategic objectives for this new initiative.

Kara will make her home in the Advising & Career Success Centre during the course of this secondment. Her official start date is August 14th, 2017.

I invite you to join me in welcoming Kara to this new role in Advising & Student Academic Support.

Regards,
