Over the weekend, the Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators Association (CPTEA) presented their highest honour at the annual conference. Specifically, The Award for Excellence in Innovation and Competency Assessment was awarded to Professor Sharon Lee (Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program). 

This award recognizes excellence in enabling pharmacy technician students to attain their professional competencies and educational outcomes. The award is co-sponsored by CPTEA and the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada to showcase the incredible work performed by a pharmacy technician educator in Canada. Sharon is a strong, passionate advocate for the pharmacy technician profession and strives to develop the competencies required for each graduate to enter the profession. Her exceptional understanding not only of the competencies but also of excellence in teaching/learning skills required to deliver a successful outcome are infused in all that she does. Sharon consistently delivers a level of professionalism to all students & encourages them and guides them along the way to the achievement of their goals.

Those who know Professor Sharon Lee, can easily concur with the above, as her commitment and dedication to Humber Pharmacy Technician students is exemplary, making Sharon a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.  Please join me in congratulating Sharon on this excellent accomplishment.

Next, over the weekend, the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) held a conference in the USA. At this international conference, Professor Dr. Kristina Lisk (Bioscience) received excellent news. Specifically, the IAMSE awarded Kristina with their 23rd annual Educational Scholarship Grant to support her ongoing program of research.

The mission of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) is to advance health profession education through teacher development and to ensure that the teaching and learning of medical science continues to be firmly grounded in foundational sciences and the best practices of teaching.

For those who know, and work with Kristina, are well aware of her commitment, dedication, and scholarship in the teaching and learning domain, and this award will further support her innovation and the ongoing evolution of her program of research.  Please join me in congratulation Kristina on this excellent accomplishment.
