Organizational Announcement: Humber College Food Services

We are pleased to announce a forthcoming transition within the Humber Chartwells team on campus. We would like to thank Walter Da Silva for his leadership, passion and commitment with Humber College food services since 2018. Walter will continue to operate as a District Manager within the GTA region, in addition to supporting corporate initiatives.

Welcome back Gobi Perumal! After more than three years as a General Manager at St. Michael's College, Gobi returns to Humber College. Gobi, a seasoned Humber food service operator, has performed various duties as Food Service Director on both the Humber North and Lakeshore campuses from 2010 to 2017.

Gobi is a savvy and innovative leader with many years of hospitality and retail experience driving the strategic planning and execution of Chartwells operations. During his work with multi-million dollar brands such as Marriott, Williams café and Compass Canada he is recognized as a critical thinker with outstanding problem solving skills and a proven history of identifying opportunities, optimizing processes, and introducing lasting solutions that satisfy immediate and long-term goals. Gobi was a 2018 Be-A-Star award recipient, an internal Compass Group award that recognizes top talent based on operational criteria.

Gobi will be responsible for Humber North, Lakeshore and Trades campus’ retail as well as the residence food services. Director of Culinary Chef Jerome D’souza, General Manager Amit Banerjee and Food Service Director Monika Wojciechowski will all report to Gobi.

Gobi's true passions however are networking and creating connections. If you’d like to connect with Gobi, feel free to stop by the Chartwells office or contact him directly at gobi.perumal@compass-canada.com.

Please join me in congratulating Gobi on his new role and best wishes to Walter as he continues to grow his portfolio. We are confident that this new alignment will enable us to provide greater and more impactful results together!

Sincerely,

Geetha Ramasamy (Chartwells) Paul Iskander (Humber)
