Part-Time Employees May Request up to two (2) Days Paid Leave to Obtain a COVID-19 Test

The health and well-being of the Humber community continues to be our top priority. In efforts to avoid the spread of COVID-19, Ontario Colleges are offering Part Time Support and Part Time Academic staff access to a paid leave. Part time Support and part time Academic employees who are unable to work remotely and have a legitimate reason to believe they require a COVID-19 test due to possible exposure to the coronavirus have the ability to request up to two (2) days of paid leave in order to get tested.

This temporary measure is in effect until December 31, 2020. The paid leave is subject to approval from the Manager and Occupational Health and allows a part time employee access to paid leave to obtain up to two (2) tests during this period of time. Proof of having received a test is required and an employee may not return to work on campus until they have complied with the Local Health Authority protocols or provided proof of a negative test.

To request this leave, contact your Manager as well as Hiren Patel, Senior Abilities & Accommodation Specialist hiren.patel@humber.ca in Occupational Health & Safety.

Further benefits, if needed, are available through government leave provisions and more information can be found here: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei/cerb-application.html
