Stephen Allen, Acting Associate Dean, Department of English

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Stephen Allen has accepted the position of Acting Associate Dean, Department of English in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences effective February 21, 2017 for an 18 month term.  Many of you already know Stephen because he has been the Director, English Language Centre since October 2012. In this role, Stephen has not only been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the English Language Centre but has also worked closely with colleagues in the International Office and across Humber to promote the ELC programs while continuing to ensure the quality and excellence that are synonymous with any Humber educational experience. Most recently, he has also been involved with developing an Offshore English Language Centre that will admit its first students in September 2017. Stephen holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from Sheffield Hallam University England, with a specific focus on learner motivation. He also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in TESOL from Trinity College, London and a Post-baccalaureate Diploma in Distance Education Technology from Athabasca University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate at Athabasca University in Distance Education.    Prior to joining Humber, Stephen held numerous educational leadership positions in the private sector both in the Canadian and international contexts. His considerable management experience coupled with his extensive experience in faculty development and instructional design, specializing in e-learning and blended learning contexts, will allow Stephen continue to foster the vision of excellence and innovation that have positioned our Department of English as a leader in the College system. Please join me in congratulating Stephen on his new appointment. Paula F. Gouveia Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
