Updates: Toronto Public Health Section 22; Vaccines FAQ; and On-Campus Construction - April 23, 2021

Following recent provincial and city of Toronto announcements, as well as the continued rollout of vaccinations across Ontario, please see some important updates below.

Toronto Public Health enacts Section 22 Order for Workplaces

Toronto Public Health (TPH) has issued a Section 22 order for workplaces effective Friday, April 23, 2021.

The Order requires the closure of certain workplaces, or portions of workplaces, where five or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 are identified within a 14 calendar-day period and where cases could reasonably have been acquired through infection in the workplace. The workplace closure or partial closure would be in effect for a minimum period of 10 calendar days.

The Humber COVID Reporting Health Team will continue to work with and follow the advice of TPH on any reported cases of COVID-19 on campus and any potential impact on the college. This includes measures to determine if there are any links between cases.

The full TPH announcement can be found here.

Vaccine FAQs

As the COVID-19 vaccination plan continues to roll out across Ontario, we have received questions from staff and students. To help address some of these questions, information has been added to the Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness COVID-19 FAQs for staff, available here. The FAQs on humber.ca/updates also now include vaccine information for students, and is available here.

Essential Construction Continues

As part of the current Stay at Home order, only essential construction is permitted to continue. This includes construction that supports the operations of, or provides new capacity in, schools, colleges, universities or childcare centres. As such, construction projects at Humber are continuing. Additional details about what is considered essential construction can be found here.
