Larry Florou, Director, Human Resources

We are pleased to announce Larry Florou as our Director, Human Resources Services. Larry will be accountable for the day-to-day human resources operations such as compensation & benefits, occupational health and safety, return to work, and employee & labour relations.
Larry has over 15 years of experience leading Human Resources services within the education and healthcare sector. Prior to joining Humber, Larry was the Director, Human Resources and Organizational Development for The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences. Prior to his time at Michener, Larry held various senior HR roles across the broader public sector. Throughout his career, Larry has consistently demonstrated solid success in leading and supporting teams of human resources professionals, delivering high levels of service. 
Larry has an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto specializing in labour and employment law. Larry is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada and he is really looking forward to joining Humber. 


Karen Saxby, Manager, Change and Improvement

We are also pleased to announce Karen Saxby as our Manager, Change and Improvement. Karen, or “Sax”, as she likes to be called, will focus on the people side of change, helping to identify change management strategies and approaches aimed at maximizing our ability to accept and embrace change.
Karen has held numerous roles assisting employees and organizations weave their way through large-scale change. She is joining us from William Osler Health System where she worked as a Corporate Change Coach and prior to that as a Senior Change Consultant. Sax has had many years experience providing strategic and tactical change management coaching and advisory services to senior executives, project management teams, managers and frontline staff aimed at managing change, improving performance and supporting project implementation. In prior roles, Sax also worked as a Human Resources and Performance Improvement Consultant at Quinn’s Chain of Restaurants and as an Organizational Development and Learning Specialist at Niagara Casinos. 
She has a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training and Hotel Management and Hotel Restaurant Management diploma. We are delighted that Karen will be part of the Humber HR team!


Sabrina Sibbio, HR Business Partner, Lakeshore Campus

Sabrina is our HR Business Partner at the Lakeshore Campus who will report to Christa Hinds, Manager, HR Client Services. 
Sabrina has also been with Humber on a contract basis and is now a permanent member of the team. She holds a Degree in humanities, a Diploma in HR, and recently received her Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation in June of 2015. During her time at Humber on contract as an HR Consultant, Sabrina has built strong partnerships with the schools and departments to ensure best practices in employee and labour relations are maintained as well playing a key role in organizational effectiveness and talent planning. Sabrina comes with nine years of progressively responsible human resources experience, starting as an HR assistant with Sears Canada Inc., working through various roles in Labour Relations and prior to her departure at Sears as a Regional Human Resources Manager. 
Sabrina is delighted to continue to contribute to an organizational culture where we foster growth and development of our staff and students. 


Grace Hardie, HR Business Partner

Grace Hardie is one of two HR Business Partners who will report to Christy Lihou, Manager, HR Client Services & Academic Staff Relations. 
Grace has worked at Humber for the past year on contract, so she is not completely new to Humber. Grace holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies Degree from York University, a Business Administration Diploma from Humber College and a Human Resources Management Certificate from the HRPA. Grace possesses a variety of HR experience, currently on contract at Humber working as an HR Consultant where she is the first point of contact for an assigned portfolio of clients. Prior to coming to Humber College, Grace worked as a Human Resources Manager for the Brampton Public Library, as a Human Resources Manager for The International Centre, and as a Senior HR Manager for Dollar Thrifty. Grace is also the Chair of the Board of Directors for The Learning Place, a not for profit organization providing literacy education and training to adult students in the Peel Region. 
Grace is thrilled to join the team on a permanent basis and is looking forward to continuing to make significant contributions at Humber. 


Samantha Marzec, HR Business Partner

Samantha Marzec is the second HR Business Partner who will report to Christy Lihou, Manager, HR Client Services & Academic Staff Relations. 
Samantha holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in History from Dalhousie University and a post-graduate Certificate in Human Resources from Humber College. Samantha has held numerous roles in Human Resources, most recently as a Human Resources Business Partner for Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Her experience includes providing HR expertise to various diverse client groups; providing labour and employee relations advice to internal clients; and leading investigations and dispute resolution related to grievances, collective bargaining, Human Rights complaints, harassment claims and disciplinary matters. Samantha has also worked as an HR Consultant for IESO (Independent Electricity Systems Operator), an HR Associate for the Region of Peel and an HR Advisor for The City of Brampton. 
Samantha is looking forward to putting her enthusiasm and energy into this new and exciting role at Humber.
