The CTL Presents: Successful Group Work Outside of the Classroom

Date/Time:
February 26, 2013 - 1:35pm
Where:
North Campus, Room D236

Time: 1:35 p.m. - 2:25 p.m.

Research has found that students who experience group work in their college classrooms retain more information, are more satisfied with their classes, and have increased persistence in college (Braxton, Milem, and Sullivan, 2000).

Group work can be an effective method to motivate students, encourage active learning, and develop key critical-thinking, communication, and decision-making skills. Despite the research, many students and instructors still resist group work.

Use these suggestions to help implement group work successfully in and particularly outside of your classroom.
