Post-graduate nurses moving into specialty areas of High Acuity, Critical Care and Emergency Nursing require added competencies for rapid assessment and management of the deteriorating patient. Brenda Ridley and Nazlin Hirji (SHS), with support from the Teaching Innovation Fund, used the team STEPPS simulation model to develop students’ ability to effectively manage deteriorating patients requiring defibrillation and advanced airway management.
