Cynthia Petersen is a partner at the law firm Sack Goldblatt Mitchell LLP in Toronto, where she has practiced for almost 20 years. Prior to entering private practice, she was a law professor at the University of Ottawa. She practices labour law on the union side, with a particular emphasis on human rights issues. She is also a constitutional law expert, who has been involved in numerous groundbreaking Charter cases, including almost all of the lesbian and gay rights cases that have been litigated before the Supreme Court of Canada. Cynthia has also been involved in a number of cases across the country in which she has advocated for the equality rights of transsexuals.
