Ethical Decision-Making in the Artificial Intelligence Era: Leveraging the Teachable Moment

Tools that enable cognitive offloading (think, the calculator) have been shaping teaching, learning, and assessment for some time now, but the reality of the power of artificial intelligence tools finally entered the consciousness of educators when ChatGPT became publicly available in late 2022. This reality caused widespread panic at first, but this panic was quickly countered with calls for a systematic and intelligent exploration of how artificial intelligence can be ethically used to enhance education. Join our next Community of Practice with Dr. Bertram Gallant to discuss how we might leverage artificial intelligence to teach ethical decision-making, leveraging the teachable moment to instill academic integrity and a love of learning within our community.
