This semester our book club will be joined by playwright Beverley Cooper to discuss her Governor General Award-nominated play, Innocence Lost. The play is about Steven Truscott, a fourteen-year-old boy charged with the rape and murder of Lynne Harper, a twelve-year-old classmate, and how the community of Clinton, Ontario, investigates his innocence. Innocence Lost is a provocative, poignant play that deals with the important themes of community, truth and coming of age in an unjust world.

The play is currently running at Ottawa's National Arts Centre and has received rave reviews in the the Ottawa Citizen; it is being lauded as an "exquisitely directed" and "commanding production" with "splendid performances" and a script that tells Steven Truscott's story "with both objectivity and compassion."

Join Beverley Cooper and fellow book lovers for a stimulating discussion of this acclaimed play. Complementary food and beverages will be provided and copies of the play are now available in the book store!

All Humber faculty, staff, administration and students are welcome. To sign up, email Writing Centre tutor, Leanne (leanne.milech@humber.ca) or join our Facebook event.
