Indigenous Movie Cafe: The Road Forward

We are hosting our third virtual Indigenous Movie Cafe! Not sure what it is? Our Indigenous Movie Cafe hosts an online Indigenous movie link for a week every month, which is followed by a post-film discussion.

This month we are featuring The Road Forward, a musical documentary by Marie Clements, that connects a pivotal moment in Canada’s civil rights history—the beginnings of Indian Nationalism in the 1930s—with the powerful momentum of First Nations activism today. The Road Forward’s stunningly shot musical sequences, performed by an ensemble of some of Canada’s finest vocalists and musicians, seamlessly connect past and present with soaring vocals, blues, rock, and traditional beats. A rousing tribute to the fighters for First Nations rights, a soul-resounding historical experience, and a visceral call to action. You can find the trailer here.

To receive the movie link, please register online here.

The post-film discussion will be held on July 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. All registered participants will be entered in a draw for a $50 gift card.
