Learning objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of what implicit race bias is, and how it fits within antiracist work broadly
  • Develop an understanding of the ways in which implicit race bias is connected to the systemic, institutional & structural operations of racism in Canada
  • Develop an understanding of the value of understanding implicit race bias for teaching and learning
  • Identify various strategies for mitigating the impacts of implicit race bias

Facilitator bio:

Dr. Arlo Kempf PhD

Arlo Kempf is Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, of the University of Toronto. Dr. Kempf teaches, researches and writes about race and education in the US and Canada.
