President's Lecture Series: Saadia Muzaffar

In the chaos of a global pandemic, the urge to wrap up our crumbling health and social safety infrastructures in neat, technology-driven solutions is very strong. Yet we know from history and experience that technological acceleration increases social inequality and entrenches polarization and austerity. Under the shadow of these conditions, we grow distant from one another, and loneliness becomes a public health concern.

In this talk, Saadia Muzaffar shares stories and experiences that have taught her the value of cultivating solidarity by talking to strangers, coming together and dreaming of many possible futures, and resisting the message of inevitability especially when it comes to technological change.

This lecture will be live-streamed.
