Principal's Office Wellness Wednesdays Series - Virtual Paint

The Principal's Office at Humber Lakeshore Campus, in partnership with the Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness Team is excited for the Principal's Office Employee Wellness Series for all Humber staff. This series will occur once a month throughout the year. The third session is a virtual paint workshop and is being led by the Centre for Creative Business and Innovation (CCBI) and Humber Galleries Director, Jennifer Gordon and Coordinator, Kyla Ross.

Creating through painting can stimulate the creative mind while relieving mental strain. A low-stress level can lead to a happier and healthier lifestyle. This facilitator-led session will help you tap into your creative side.

You will be creating your own version of a snowy winter scene as you follow along with step-by-step learning painting techniques. Guided painting can be a fun way to explore your creativity, de-stress, and find your flow. Whether it’s your first time dabbling in painting or you’re an experienced painter this activity is a way to get out of your head and access your inner artist.

Limited supplies are required and participants will be provided with a relevant e-gift card to purchase supplies needed for the workshop prior to the date. Limited spots are available.

Workshop Structure

The session will begin at 12:05 p.m. with a short introduction/presentation around art and painting is and the benefits of it followed by a 50-minute paint session.

Facilitator Information

Jennifer Gordon is the Director of the Humber College Centre for Creative Business Innovation and Humber Galleries. She holds a studio BFA in Drawing & Painting and a BEd in I/S Visual Arts & English, both from the University of Ottawa and is an MFA Candidate in Creative Writing at UBC. Jennifer has experience with Art Therapy workshops and the connection between art, wellness, and social good.  

Kyla Ross is the Coordinator of the Humber College Centre for Creative Business Innovation and Humber Galleries. She holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting from OCAD and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration and Cultural Management from Humber College. Kyla has more than six years of experience teaching art to children and has been independently leading paint parties for adults and children for three years.
