South Etobicoke Youth Assembly (S.E.Y.A.) Youth Photography group has been exploring the community to better understand our neighborhood’s identity, reality and express the world around us through photography. No one photo is ever alike and this fact parallels South Etobicoke in its diversity and uniqueness. Some may say, black and white 35mm film is outdated, but what it lacks in interest more than makes up for in its unique visual quality. More importantly, the artistic process of manually setting each frame and developing directly from the negatives in the darkroom is illuminating. S.E.Y.A. aims to identify the hidden qualities of character and landscape of the Lakeshore community through the “Lakeshore’s Streets” photography project. S.E.Y.A.'s goal is to increase collective artistic experiences of Lakeshore members and bring to awareness uncommon images that depict the unique environment that is South Etobicoke.
An Opening reception, with refreshments, will be held onThursday, August 9, 2012 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
