About the Workshop

Join artistic producer, Carmen Kruk, and other members of the Off-Key Productions team in a two-hour workshop created to explore the stories of the Etobicoke Lakeshore community through headphone verbatim.

Headphone verbatim theatre was developed by community arts activists in the 1990s. It is a unique approach to theatrical storytelling in which actors use headphones to listen to pre-recorded interviews live on stage, creating a performance that captures an interviewee’s inflections, hesitations, and vocal patterns with true-to-life accuracy.

The workshop will start with an audio-recorded exploration of the stories and issues that are important to the workshop participants, before moving into a master class on headphone verbatim performance. We will end the session with an optional in-class performance of the recordings collected in the workshop.

No prior knowledge or skills required for this event and all the materials are provided. All we ask is that you bring your creative attitude and a story to share!

Space is mobility accessible.

Light refreshments will be provided.

This is the second event of a three-part series known as "Shore Stories". Keep an eye on lakeshoregrounds.ca for upcoming events!
