Learning objectives:

  • To provide an intersectional framework for understanding slavery, colonialism and Anti-Black Racism (ABR)
  • Highlight how ABR is reproduced in the curriculum
  • Highlight how our behaviors, attitudes and institutional policies reproduce ABR oppression
  • To provide methods, language and tools for disrupting ABR in conversations with others

Facilitator bio:

Dr. Wesley Crichlow Ph.D.

Dr. Wesley Crichlow is the Associate Dean, Equity at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, a Professor within their Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities, in the youth and criminology specialization, and the Chair of the President’s Equity Taskforce.

Dr. Crichlow has spent over 25 years engaging in research, teaching, service and public lectures in the areas of decolonization, anti-racism, LGBTQ2S rights, and equity, diversity & inclusion mobilization and development. He is an interdisciplinary youth scholar and community social justice activist who works with socially and economically disadvantaged youth, engaging in youth community empowerment.
