Welcome Back Celebrations! 2018-2019 Academic School Year

Join Humber’s Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity for a Strolling Pan Parade with Panman Pat and Swizzle Stick Theatre’s Moko Jumbies!

Moko Jumbies
A Moko Jumbie is a stilt walker or dancer. They are thought to originate from West African tradition before being brought to the Caribbean. The tradition of the Moko Jumbie survived by living in the hearts of African descendants during slavery and colonial life to eventually walk the streets of Trinidad as part of Carnival, a celebration of freedom. The Moko Jumbies will be wearing colourful garb and masks as they dance throughout both the North and Lakeshore campuses.
