Get Involved with CTI

The Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation (CTI) is the first of Humber’s three Centres of Innovation to be housed in a stand-alone facility. The CTI is a $57 million 93,000 square foot facility at North Campus. There will be many opportunities and events for staff to participate in leading up to the grand opening on January 2019.

The CTI has digital activity zones rather than traditional labs or classrooms, yet it is still tightly connected to academic learning. Skills training and applied research that will occur in the CTI will build on Humber’s expertise in automation and robotics, systems integration, advanced manufacturing and design, augmented and virtual reality and user experience testing.

Featuring specialized areas such as multimedia and design studios, open and flexible creative spaces, a digital visualization room and interactive makerspaces, along with state-of-the-art software and equipment, the CTI’s approach will reduce R&D costs and risks, making it easier for companies to pursue ideas and technological advancements.

As a place of experiential learning, students can work onsite directly with industry partners’ engineers and product development teams in a live applied research environment. Further, as the Skills Varsity training hub, the CTI will be the preparation ground for Humber’s alumni and skills teams to compete in local, national and international competitions

Here is a list of upcoming events:

August 27, 2018 Chris Whitaker will share more information on how employees can get involved at the President's Breakfast
November 17, 2018 Tours and demos of CTI will be available during Fall Open House
January 24, 2019 Grand Opening
