Course Outlines 911

Course outlines are an essential part of course design. They serve as a contract between Humber and our students. Course outlines articulate the goals and expectations for the course, including the outcomes, modules of study and assessments. Many new and experienced faculty have various questions about the content and quality of their course outlines including;

  • What are the essential components of a course outline?
  • How do you create a course outline that is clear and informative?
  • How do you create a student-centered course outline?
  • How do you ensure that the course learning outcomes are clearly written and aligned with the learning activities and assessments?

During this workshop, faculty will:

  1. review the components of a course outline, with a focus on course learning outcomes
  2. analyze a current course outline that they use/created
  3. utilize the newly developed course outline template and checklist to update their current course outlines

(Note: faculty should bring a current course outline that they created or currently use for a course that they teach)
