Scholars' Cafe

Teaching and Learning support is pleased to invite you to the Scholars' Café on October 16th from 12 to 1 p.m. at North Campus.

The Scholars’ Café is a chance to discuss the latest in the teaching and learning literature. It is like a book club, but for journal articles. Each month, faculty will gather to chat informally about a selected paper from a scholarly teaching and learning journal. Please join us for coffee and a collegial discussion. You are encouraged to bring your own lunch with you!

Do you ever hear people using the term digital natives when referring to learners in our current classrooms? What does this mean and is there is evidence to support it? This month’s paper will focus on critically examining urban legends in education, including learners being digital natives and the widespread belief that learners have specific learning styles. Join us for a collegial conversation about this paper.
