Part-time Faculty Orientation for Winter 2020

Are you a new or returning part-time faculty? Sign up for one of the Orientation sessions designed just for you.

This is an opportunity to meet with our Teaching & Learning Specialist and Faculty Support Digital Specialist and get familiar with the services we have to offer you to enhance your teaching experience here at Humber.

Orientation to Teaching & Learning

As a polytechnic institute, our goal is to build career-ready citizens.  We do this by developing deep levels of subject matter expertise through an active learning environment. This session will share tips, tools and templates to help you bring these goals to life. We will also discuss Humber’s student population and the services we have on campus to meet everyone’s learning needs.

Blackboard Orientation

Every course at Humber has an online presence in Blackboard, Humber’s Learning Management System (LMS), which instructors can use to augment and enhance the classroom experience. Come learn how to navigate, add and remove content, use basic communication tools, and upload the Humber Template.

Note: Participants must have access to a Blackboard course to participate actively in this workshop.

  • Make sure you can access Blackboard.
  • If your central login ID or Password does not work, you will need to go to IT with photo ID and get them to do a reset. North Campus: NX 210, Lakeshore Campus: A212.
  • Be sure you have a course to work with in Blackboard. This could be a live site or better yet a DEV site or SANDBOX. Both a DEV site and Sandbox can be requested using the appropriate e-forms at its.humber.ca. Please note that this request can take up to 24 hours to be processed.

If you do not have access to Blackboard AND a site to work in you will not be able to actively participate in the workshop.
