Attend Mental Health First Aid Training – Someone’s life may depend on it

Mental health problems affect everyone, whether directly or indirectly.

Do you know anyone who feels stressed, overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, fearful, or suicidal? Are you unsure how best to support that person, or wonder if it’s even a good idea to talk openly about how she or he is feeling?

Mental Health First Aid teaches people the basics of mental health, including information about common mental health problems and specific disorders, as well as simple and explicit actions we can all take to identify the signs and symptoms of distress and provide meaningful support. Whether you are faculty, support staff or an administrator you will learn useful and relevant information to assist you to cope with mental health concerns in your professional and personal life.

When you attend a two day Mental Health First Aid course, you can expect the following:

  • Improve your understanding of mental illness
  • Minimize the fear and hesitation to become involved when you think someone is experiencing a mental health problem
  • Learn simple and effective intervention strategies that are relevant to your role in the college
