Installing Piles for the new Humber College Stop along Hwy 27, Finch Ave. W. and Humber College Blvd.

The week of November 16, 2020, as part of the Finch West Light Rail (LRT) project, several crews will start support of excavation works for the future Humber College Stop, open cut tunnel and portal. Using auger machines, crews will drill holes into the ground and fill them with concrete and steel piles to create “columns” that will support excavation works as well as surrounding utilities or structures.

Pile drilling will be conducted along Finch Ave. W. between Hwy. 27 and Westmore Dr. and along Hwy 27 to south of Humber College Blvd. Dry utility (e.g. electric, telephone, TV or internet cables) work also will be underway on Finch Ave. W. in the same area.

Noise and vibration levels will be monitored throughout the work to make sure they are always within permitted ranges.

During pile drilling, for public and workers’ safety, traffic will be shifted on Hwy 27 to the east side, starting  the week of November 16, 2020 and to the north side on Finch Ave. W at the end of November 2020. On Humber College Blvd, traffic will be shifted to the south. Those traffic shifts will remain in place till summer 2021.
