HROE Wellness Series - Pause, Re-charge, Re-centre

Office Ergonomics

Is your couch, bedroom, or kitchen serving as your home “office”? Are you finding it challenging to work comfortably from home? As part of the HROE Wellness Series, today we are focusing on ergonomics of your home workstation!

Set up for Success

  • Check out the attached PROergonomics tip sheet to learn how to safely position your home office equipment.
  • Gather ways to maximize comfort at your workstation, by joining the next Ergonomics @ Home webinar on December 2, 2020 at 12 p.m. Register by clicking here.

Safe Stretches

  • Attempt to get up and stretch for five minutes every hour. Changing positions and moving will help prevent muscle strain.
  • Try these simple workstation stretches you can do at your home office.
  • Prevent eye strain! Practice the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away, for 20 seconds. This helps to exercise the muscles in your eyes.

Seek Assistance

  • Consult with your manager if you have office equipment needs while working remotely.
  • If you wish to review additional ergonomic resources, including self-assessment questionnaires and ergonomic tips, please visit the Occupational Health and Safety website at hrs.humber.ca/safety.

Wellness Series for Employees

We may not see you every day, but the Humber community wants you to know that we are here for you! To help support you as we approach the end of our Fall Semester, the HROE team is partnering with several groups across the College to bring you a suite of wellness events and resources over the next four weeks. We encourage you to take this opportunity to connect with colleagues, and help feed your mind, body and soul.

As always, throughout the next few weeks, please do get social with us using #HealthyHumber.
