I am: Mindful Workshop

This August, the Interpretive Centre is hosting a series of virtual workshops called the ‘I am:’ Series. This workshop series is designed to introduce participants to artistic and natural elements that support personal growth and development through hands-on arts-based activities. Workshops will focus on topics such as identity as it relates to personal learning, developing connections with environments, and building a relationship with oneself. Our goal is to activate the Interpretive Centre’s 4-guiding pillars: Environmental Sustainability, Education, Mental Health and Indigenous Heritage through this series with guest presenters to help us engage our communities. Registration for our first workshop is open now!

Week 1: Wednesday, August 4, 2021

Let's begin the month with a fresh start. Join us, with Art-Therapist Lisa Rusland, in a mindfulness meditation and art-based directive. This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to practice meditation and learn about mindfulness in practice. You will also receive some resources to begin your own daily meditation habits and to start living more peacefully.

Through the workshop, you will create “gratitude cards.” A simple, yet meaningful, creative project, these decorative cards are ideal for beginning daily gratitude practice or simply for those times when you want to remind yourself of all the things that you are.

Materials required for this workshop are:

A pencil/drawing tool, a black fine line pen/marker, a sketchbook/paper/surface to draw on, and colouring utensils (this could include pencil crayons, markers, pastels, paint... whatever is your preferred medium of choice!)

If you'd like to use your own materials, please select 'General Admission' at registration.

A limited number of art kits are available for this event. Please select "General Admission + Art Kit" at registration.

*Please note: Art kits are only available to be shipped to those living in Ontario.

This is a free event.
