Anti-Blackness and Consent Education

Please join Sexual Violence Prevention and Education as we welcome guest speaker Lydia Collins on Thursday, December 9 at 1 p.m. Lydia is an author, educator, and creator, and her unwavering love for writing and community health are what keep her committed to continue amplifying marginalized voices however she can.  

This discussion will focus on the impacts of anti-Black racism on sexual health - particularly consent education. This session will expand on mainstream understandings of consent, move past the surface of the no means no rhetoric, and delve into how historical and current impacts of fetishization, hypersexualization, and the use of sexual violence as a tool for colonization on Black people in this country has shaped understandings of consent and safer sex.
