Reactivation - Open Call for Student/Alumni Creative Works

*Please share this opportunity with students and recently graduated alumni.

As part of the upcoming exhibition, Notes for Tomorrow, Humber Galleries is pleased to launch a special iteration of the REACTIVATION Project that explores creation, inspiration, and the changed world a few years into a pandemic.

In this iteration, Humber Galleries has launched an open call to all Humber College students and alumni, asking applicants to submit creative works that respond to the prompt “How life feels to me after living through two years of a global pandemic”. While previous versions of this project had specific mediums in mind, this one is open to all mediums as long as they can be showcased virtually. Whether students and/or alumni work in fine art, music, digital art, animation, dance, or creative writing (to name just a few), any medium is welcome and encouraged for this call.

Fifteen artists will be selected to participate. Each will be paired with a different submitted work, which will act as inspiration to create another original work in response. In the end, all participants will have two works included in a virtual gallery, which will be launched in January 2023.

Requirements:

  • A current Humber College or University of Guelph student from any program; OR
  • A Humber College or University of Guelph alum within three years of graduation from any program

Benefits for artists:

  • Honorarium of $200 per successful artist via an Everything Card
  • Have two artworks displayed in the Humber Galleries virtual gallery
  • Co-Curricular Record (CCR) certificate for current students
  • A great addition to an Artist CV or resume
