To all faculty and academic partners,
During Fall 2022 finals, both accommodated and non-accommodated learners were invited to take their exams at the Test Centre, and it was determined that there was enough capacity to accommodate all these learners, with additional space available. As a result, moving into Winter 2023 finals, we will continue to allow both accommodated and non-accommodated learners to take their exams at the Test Centre. All learners must continue to book their appointments using the Testing Services link on Blackboard.
Based on the analysis of data and feedback from Fall 2022, the following measures have also been adjusted this semester:
- The exam window has been reduced from 14 days to seven days.
- Instructors no longer need to submit their exams three days in advance; this lead time has been reduced to one business day.
- In order to restrict which learners can use the Test Centre, instructors are encouraged to set "Release Conditions" on their Testing Services link on Blackboard. More information can be found in our handbook on pages 9-11.
Please note that the following measures continue to remain in place:
- Learners still require advance notice when booking in order to ensure that the resources and equipment required for appointments are prepared and ready for the next business day. This lead time has been reduced from 48h down to 36h, and in urgent cases, learners are able to call or email the Test Centre if they would like to request an earlier write time.
- The Test Centre team cannot enforce specific write times within the 7-day window. This window is in place to ensure availability and access to required resources (ex: private room, assistive software, no more than one test per day, etc.). Instructors are encouraged to discuss write time expectations with learners prior to them booking their appointment. However, depending on resource availability, learners may not be able to book this specific date/time. Instructors can check the "History" tab of their Test Submission page to view all booked appointments (handbook page 18).
