Maintaining a Healthy Campus Environment

December 9, 2014

Dear Humber staff, students and faculty,

Congratulations on completing the Fall semester. As 2014 comes to a close and the Humber community disperses for the holidays, we wanted to take this opportunity to wish you safe travels and remind you of ways to help maintain a healthy campus environment upon your return in January.

As the cold and flu season continues through the winter months, you can help stop the spread of germs by:

  • Washing or sanitizing your hands frequently
  • Coughing or sneezing into a tissue - and putting the used tissue in a waste basket and not in your purse or pocket
  • If you don't have a tissue, sneezing or coughing into your sleeve or arm - NOT your hands
  • Staying home if you aren't feeling well

And if you are travelling over the holidays, especially to places affected by travel advisories, please take a moment to ask yourself the following questions as you prepare to return to campus:

  • Do you have a fever/are you feeling feverish?
  • Do you have a severe headache or muscle pain?
  • Do you have diarrhea or are you vomiting?
  • Do you have a sore throat or stomach pain?
  • Are you feeling unusually weak or fatigued, or experiencing chills?

If you answer yes to any of the above questions, please contact your health care provider and mention your recent travel.
